Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) is a group of lysosomal storage disorders associated with a variety of clinical features. Dental management of patients with MPS depends on the MPS type and its severity. Prevention of advanced dental decay and gum disease becomes of great importance in order to avoid extensive dental procedures where cooperation is essential, and avoid the use of anesthetics which can cause adverse effects in some patients. This presentation will focus on the preventive dental treatment of patients with MPS. Clinical experience and observation will be mentioned along with a brief discussion of the current dental literature. |
